Essay Planning Guide
It is essential to do a brief plan before you consider starting an essay as this allows you to organise and plan you ideas. This will also save you time in the long run, as it will give you a clear and structured system which you can follow and include all the relevant information that you require to answer your 'question'. Therefore do not 'throw' yourself into starting your essay, take the time and create a plan, and your essay will be clearer and completed quicker. To do this get a piece of scrap paper and complete the following steps:

Step 1: Write out the essay question

"To what extent does specialist nurses impact on the current practice and skills of staff nurse."

Step 2: Highlight the important content words

"To what extent does specialist nurses impact on the current practice and skills of staff nurse."

Step 3: Identify the main area of focus

"Specialist nurses" This is often what you use to introduce your essay

Step 4: Identify the specific topics/points to be discussed and briefly outline your ideas on the subjects

"current practice and skills of staff nurses"

Step 5: Identify the task
To what extent.... This means you have to present your information and ideas first, before you can evaluate the impact
